Our History
Our History
Established in 1889 by Theodore Schweiger, our journey began with a
small carpentry shop in Kansas City, Missouri. Over the years, T.G.
Schweiger Contracting Company expanded its operations, earning a
reputation for exceptional craftsmanship and service. In response to post-World War II changes and evolving industry dynamics, the company
transitioned to specializing in building construction and general contracting,
renaming itself Schweiger Construction in 1952.
Spanning four generations of the Schweiger family, we’ve successfully
navigated through significant historical events, adapting and prospering
amidst changing times. Throughout our 135-year history, we’ve created and
maintained a friendly, inclusive work environment, valuing the contributions
of each employee who has called Schweiger Construction their
“home away from home.”
Under the leadership of Carol Schweiger Meharry, the great-granddaughter
of Theodore Schweiger, we continue to uphold our legacy of integrity and
excellence. With a focus on innovation and successful management, we’re
proud to leverage our unique position as a woman-owned construction
company, serving clients in both the public and private sectors.
